Crockpot Chocolate Lava Cake

FOR THE CAKE:

2 cups Brown Sugar
2 cups All-purpose Flour
6 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
4 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Milk
4 Tablespoons Butter, melted
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

FOR THE FUDGE TOPPING:

1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
3 cups Boiling Water

Directions: For the cake: Mix together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Stir in milk, melted butter and vanilla until combined. Spread the batter over the bottom of a large crock pot.

For the fudge topping: Mix together the brown sugar and cocoa. Sprinkle mixture over the cake batter.
Pour the boiling water over the top. DO NOT STIR! Cover and cook on High for 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

Cake will be very hot! Turn off heat, and remove lid. Let sit 20-30 minutes before serving, so its still warm but won't burn your mouth.

You are really going to want to add some vanilla ice cream to this too...Promise!

    1. Just spoon it out, it's more like a bread pudding than a cake.

    1. That is a good question Kelly, I have never had left overs...I have 5 kids and a hubby. I think I would transfer it to another dish, and reheat in the microwave. Let me know if you try to store it and what worked for you.

    2. I just spooned it out into a tupper ware. I think that it is just as yummy cold, but you can reheat it too. This is my new favorite!

  4. What size crockpot do you use for this recipe? I have a large oval one. Would that do?

    1. I have a 4 qt round and a 8qt round. I also have a 6 qt oval. I have never made it in the oval one. I think it should work, it just might not be as "deep" once it's cooked. Let me know if you try it. Jenn
